19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized the Russian player won his initial championship for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has had a difficult year, achieving just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the past month - peaking in a closely contested three-set triumph over challenger Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's first championship following the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt after spring of 2023.

The win also indicates Medvedev has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his past six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's retrieving strategy and regular emotional displays on court had prompted some to question if his capacity to perform at the elite level was concluded.

But the player has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an improved serve.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult opponent, winning 4 of the final five points to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden tour title, gained dominance to force a final set.

The opponent saved four initial break points in a close final set before the Russian secured a break to that score to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured the win with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
